Here are instructions about finding the IP address of a 15454 using a data sniffer:

Click on this "Thumbnail" picture to see full instructions.

In order to view these instructions you must have the PDF viewer from Adobe.  It's free and you can download it here: Adobe Acrobat Reader.

If you do not have a data sniffer, try Ethereal.  It’s  free!

Installing Ethereal is a two step process.

First, download and install the wincap packet capture software:

Second, download and install Ethereal for windows

If you're not sure how to use Ethereal I have written a lab to help: Ethereal Lab

A full users guide for Ethereal can be found with this link.

Here are instructions from Cisco about finding the IP address of  a 15454 using TL1:

Step 1     Connect a terminal or laptop to the DB9 connector on the active TTC card.

Step 2     Start HyperTerminal (Start/Programs/Accessories/Communications/HyperTerminal).

Step 3     Name the connection (TL1).

Step 4     Click OK.

Step 5     On the “Connect To” Screen, click the tab to the right of the “Connect Using” window and select “Direct to Com 1”.

Step 6     Click OK.

Step 7      On the Com 1 window, select 9600 bits per second. Other default settings are OK (8, none, 1, hardware).

Step 8     Click OK.

Step 9     Press the Enter key on the terminal. You should see a “>” on the screen. If you see nothing (or garbage), remove the cable from the TTC card. Check the settings in HyperTerminal. Reconnect and try again.

Step 10    If there is no password to CISCO15 enter this message:    Act-user::CISCO15:<ctag>; where ctag is any number. You should receive an M <ctag> COMPLD message. You are now logged in.

Note User ID and password are case sensitive.

Step 11    When a password has already been assigned to the node, enter this message:  Act-user::CISCO15:<ctag>::<passed>; where ctag is any number and passwd is the password. You should receive a M <ctag> COMPLD message. You are now logged in.
